The family of veteran Yoruba movie star Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has issued an urgent public appeal for medical intervention after disclosing that the 66-year-old actor is battling stage-four cancer.
In emotional videos shared via social media, the actor’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, stated that healthcare facilities have declined to continue administering chemotherapy treatments due to the advanced progression of his illness.
Details of the family appeal
According to his family, Ogogo’s severe health challenge was only discovered three weeks ago, as his physical appearance initially disguised the severity of the internal condition.
Clarifying that the public call is strictly for clinical intervention rather than financial aid, Lima Taiwo urged oncology specialists, medical centers, or alternative treatment experts capable of managing advanced cases to take on her father’s care.
“We are not here to ask for money. If you know somebody that will be willing to treat him, we are willing to try anything,” she stated.
Industry support and career background
Kira Taiwo acknowledged the ongoing financial support from political figures, including Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), who has been covering the actor’s medical bills.
With a career spanning over four decades and appearances in more than 300 film productions, Ogogo remains one of the most prominent figures in indigenous Nigerian cinema.
Official management representatives have yet to release a formal clinical summary detailing the specific type of cancer involved.
