Woman found dead inside Osogbo church with severed wrist

Police detectives in Osun State have launched an investigation following the discovery of an unidentified woman’s body inside a church building in the Obelewo area of Osogbo, Osun State capital.

According to an official statement released on Sunday by the Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, Ani Iniedu, law enforcement officers visited the crime scene immediately after the body was reported by residents.

Details of the police investigation

Preliminary findings indicate that the victim was killed on the premises, with her left wrist severed and removed by her attackers. Police authorities noted that the identity of the deceased and the motives behind the attack remain unknown.

“The investigations revealed that the deceased was slaughtered and her left wrist severed and taken away by unknown persons,” Iniedu confirmed.

Next steps and autopsy

The victim’s body has been evacuated and deposited at a local hospital mortuary, where a forensic autopsy will be conducted. 

The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has taken over the case to identify the victim and track down the perpetrators.
