A Nigerian woman has advised young women against evaluating potential marriage partners based solely on their current financial status, recounting how her husband transitioned from a commercial motorcycle (Okada) rider to the CEO of King Flash Photography.
Speaking in an interview video shared on Instagram by @streetscholarz, she reflected on her husband’s humble beginnings and their shared journey over the past 15 years.
Humble beginnings and early marital struggles
The woman revealed that her husband lacked financial resources when they met and was residing in a modest area (“Lungu”) in Suleja, Niger State. She disclosed that he could not afford their wedding expenses at the time, prompting her to encourage him and assist within her capacity.
“I married an Okada man. He used to be an Okada man, but now he’s the CEO of King Flash Photography. He didn’t look like it when I married him. When I met my husband, even our wedding, he could not afford it. I was the one that said, ‘Don’t worry, God will do it.’ We did what we could do.”
A 15-year transformation and advice to young women
After 15 years of marriage, the woman noted that their financial situation has improved significantly, sharing that they now own property in Abuja and other regions.
Based on her personal experience, she urged the younger generation to look beyond immediate financial standing when selecting a spouse:
