The family of Pa Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi, the founding father of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has publicly rejected a trending narrative suggesting a rift between them and the current church administration.
Pastor Titilayo Adewale, Akindayomi’s daughter, issued a strong disclaimer on her official Facebook page on Monday, labelling the circulating reports as entirely fabricated. The viral post had falsely claimed that Adewale was protesting the erasure of her father’s legacy by senior RCCG pastors.
Spiritual impact matters more than earthly monuments, says Adewale
Distancing herself from the controversial statements, Adewale clarified that her late father was a deeply spiritual man who cared nothing for worldly recognition, fame, or having his name plastered across church buildings.
“I want to clarify that the statement attributed to me is not from me, either implicitly or explicitly,” she noted. “For the record, Baba’s image or no image on any edifice on earth is nothing compared to making Heaven with his full face being recognised.”
She reminded the public that Pa Akindayomi was so detached from material wealth that his family had to struggle to convince him to own a personal home.
According to her, the true legacy of the RCCG founder lies in the lives he transformed. “My father consistently believed in building people rather than merely constructing buildings,” she explained, adding that it makes no sense to assume a man who rejected personal wealth would suddenly care about having institutions named after him.
Mischief-makers trying to cause division within RCCG
Adewale strongly condemned the architects of the fake news, stating that the primary goal of the fabricated story was to distract the congregation and breed resentment against the current leadership.
She described the rumours as a deliberate ploy to “sow discord among us” and disrupt the divine mandate of the ministry.
Putting an end to any speculation of bad blood, she offered her full backing and prayers to the current General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
She prayed for God to grant continuous strength and divine wisdom to Adeboye, his family, and the broader RCCG leadership as they prepare for the church’s global convention.
