A video recorded by 26-year-old Mary Habila debunking false reports of her death just days before she was found dead in Ebonyi State has resurfaced online.
A resurfaced video showing the late 26-year-old Mary Habila dismissing false rumours about her death just days before she actually passed away has sparked fresh emotional reactions online.
The video was shared publicly by Anita Baaki, a physiotherapist from Benue State and a close friend of the deceased.
According to Baaki, Habila recorded the video on June 25, 2026, after rumours claiming she had died began circulating on social media a day earlier.
Habila’s body was later discovered on June 27, 2026, inside a room at the country home of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Law enforcement agencies are currently conducting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
In the video shared on Facebook by her friend on July 20, Habila addressed the camera to reassure her family, friends, and well-wishers who were calling to confirm her well-being.
“I still have calls coming in and messages coming in asking if that was true or something. I’m fine, I’m healthy. I really don’t know what was happening, and I don’t know what happened actually. But you can see I’m fine,” Habila said in the recording.
She started a sentence with: “The person that posted the death rumour…”, but did not finish the sentence.
The late nurse also hinted that her account was hacked in the video statement, but did not elaborate.
The tragic timing of the video and her subsequent death just two days later have drawn widespread interest and condolences across social media platforms as the police investigation continues.
