Nigerian woman claims US Embassy denied her visa because “foreign nationals are not allowed”

A Nigerian lady has sparked widespread discussion on social media after sharing a video in which she claims her application for a United States visa was rejected.
In the viral video, the woman alleged that consular officials at the US Embassy informed her that foreign nationals—particularly Nigerians—are currently not being permitted entry into the United States. However, she did not provide any official documentation, visa refusal letters, or formal correspondence from the embassy to back up her claims.
Woman details her experience at the embassy
According to her account, she had previously heard rumours that the US was halting visa issuance to foreign nationals, which she initially dismissed as misinformation before attending her scheduled interview.
“Just coming from the US Embassy and guess what? I was denied the visa again,” she said. “Now the reason for this denial, they said foreign nationals are not allowed into the US.”
The woman expressed surprise at the explanation she allegedly received. She further claimed that embassy officials told her that even her children, who already hold valid US visas, would not be permitted to enter the country under the current circumstances.
Applicant advises Nigerians to abort visa missions
Following her refusal, the woman urged other Nigerian applicants to hold off on scheduling appointments or attending interviews, suggesting that the process is currently futile.
“So if you have plans to book an appointment for a US visa, or you’ve already booked, we advise that you abort that mission because they are not giving visas,” she stated.
She concluded her video by reiterating her belief that the United States is restricting entry for foreign nationals, with a specific focus on Nigerian travellers.
Note: The United States Embassy has not announced any ban or blanket suspension on issuing visas to Nigerian citizens, and standard visa processing guidelines remain active.
