A prominent political scientist and public affairs analyst, Dr. Kunle Fagbemi, has called for the immediate suspension of several top federal government officials following the unfolding scandal involving a fictitious presidential agency.

Speaking as a guest on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday, July 6, 2026, Fagbemi argued that a thorough investigation cannot happen while key institutional heads remain in their offices.

He insisted that the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, alongside the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, and the Accountant-General of the Federation, Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, must step aside on administrative leave.

Fagbemi further expanded his list of officials who should recuse themselves to include:

Olayemi Cardoso, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)

Tanimu Yakubu, Director-General of the Budget Office of the Federation

Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation

The Director of Banking Operations at the CBN

Why Femi Gbajabiamila, others must step down

The controversy stems from explosive claims made by Adeyemi Adeniyi, the self-acclaimed Director-General of the illegal Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Adeniyi alleged that Gbajabiamila received a $N400$ million bribe through an intermediary and subsequently demanded an additional $N200$ million to formalise his appointment.

While the Presidency has strongly debunked the allegations—clarifying that the Chief of Staff lacks the constitutional or administrative power to issue appointments or write deployment letters—Fagbemi maintained that the systemic breach requires unprecedented transparency.

“The Presidency of Nigeria is solely vested in the President of Nigeria. An audit of all offices and residential areas in the State House must be carried out. President Tinubu should institute a panel of inquiry against this ‘fake agency,'” said Dr Fagbemi.TV

Calls for a formal panel of inquiry

Fagbemi stressed that invoking the Public Service Rules to send the affected officials on administrative leave is standard procedure to safeguard public trust.

He noted that the financial and regulatory footprints already available to the public require these institutional leaders to defend their portfolios before an independent panel.

The analyst concluded that because the fake agency successfully bypassed multiple layers of state security, banking regulations, and civil service protocols, the leadership of these agencies must clear their names before an independent panel of inquiry.
