The United States government has deported a Nigerian national, Ayodeji Olamide Ajayi, following multiple criminal convictions, including domestic violence, as part of its ongoing immigration enforcement efforts.

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) disclosed this in a statement posted on its official X account, revealing that Ajayi had remained in the country illegally after entering on a student visa nearly two decades ago.

According to the agency, Ajayi entered the United States in 2007 on a student visa and eventually left school, but failed to depart the country as required by law.

ICE stated that instead of leaving, he remained in the US and accumulated a lengthy criminal record, which includes convictions for domestic violence, trespassing, intimidation, and obstruction. The agency added that his criminal history also includes charges of kidnapping, rape, and family neglect.

The enforcement agency attributed the deportation to the strict immigration policies of President Donald Trump’s administration regarding undocumented immigrants with criminal records.

“Thanks to @POTUS’ commitment to getting criminal illegal aliens out of this country, Ajayi will be leaving the United States shortly,” the agency stated on its social media handle.

Although the agency announced Ayodeji Olamide Ajayi’s removal, it did not disclose the exact date the deportation was carried out or provide further details regarding where the convictions occurred or the current legal status of the additional criminal charges.

The deportation comes amid a continued crackdown by immigration authorities across the United States, stepping up enforcement actions and removals targeting undocumented foreign nationals with criminal histories.
