Social media has been thrown into a state of excitement following a rare and extraordinary matrimonial celebration in Ibadan, Oyo State, as a set of twin brothers tied the knot with a set of twin sisters in a spectacular double wedding ceremony.

Adding a fascinating twist to the unique union, the couple shares matching traditional Yoruba names.

The first-born twin brother, Oguntoye Taiwo Oye, married his female counterpart named Taiwo, while his second-born twin brother, Oguntoye Kehinde Oladele, wedded the second female twin, named Kehinde.

The multi-day celebration kicked off with a colourful traditional engagement ceremony on Friday, June 19, 2026, paving the way for the grand white wedding finale on Saturday, June 20.

The Oguntoye twins say, ‘I do’

The grooms are widely recognised across the continent as prominent cultural advocates and are famously referred to as “the most famous twins in African tourism.”

Known for organising the world-renowned World Twins Festival in Igbo-Ora—the global capital of twins—the brothers have transitioned their lifelong advocacy for twin culture into their own personal fairy tale.

Expressing deep gratitude via a joint announcement on social media, the ecstatic grooms shared stunning photographs from their traditional rites, capturing the beauty of the cultural milestone.

“Twins wed twins!!! Yesterday’s traditional wedding was simply amazing! We are grateful to God and everyone who celebrated with us,” they wrote. “Today is the grand finale as the most famous twins in African tourism say ‘I Do’! Taiwo & Taiwo, Kehinde & Kehinde. All glory, honour, and adoration belong to God for making this day a reality.”

Reflecting on their journey from a unique vision to a real-life celebration, they added in another emotional update:

“Engagement done and dusted! What started as a dream is now a testimony. Thankful for love, family, friends, and God’s endless grace. Here’s to forever!”

A rare cultural phenomenon

In traditional Yoruba culture, twin births are revered as divine blessings capable of bringing wealth, favour, and fame to their families.

The naming convention is strictly fixed: the first twin to emerge is named Taiwo (meaning “the one who tastes the world first”), while the second-born is named Kehinde (“the one who arrives later”).

The rare alignment of twin brothers falling in love with and marrying twin sisters—and perfectly matching their traditional birth orders—has captured the hearts of thousands of well-wishers online.

Viral photographs from the event have sparked a massive wave of celebratory messages, with many describing the dual union as a beautifully scripted masterpiece of fate.
