‘We have members across the parties; Adeboye cannot support any party’- RCCG
Says Adeboye never called off rally

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has strongly rejected claims suggesting that its General Overseer, Enoch Adeboye, has endorsed any political party or government, insisting that both the cleric and the church remain politically neutral.
In a statement released on Tuesday through the church’s official public relations platform on X, The Redeemed Christian Church of God accused some individuals, bloggers, commentators, and media outlets of repeatedly spreading inaccurate information about its leader.
The church said it could no longer ignore what it described as years of deliberate misinformation and misleading narratives targeted at Adeboye and RCCG.
According to the statement, false reports and agenda-driven commentaries have continued to distort the public perception of the church and its leader, prompting the need for a public response.
RCCG emphasised that any information relating to Adeboye or the church should be verified through its officially recognised communication channels before being accepted as fact.
The church specifically addressed allegations that Adeboye had campaigned for a political party or administration, describing such claims as baseless.
It explained that the cleric has consistently encouraged Nigerians, including church members, to participate in the electoral process by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and voting according to their personal convictions.
The statement noted that RCCG members belong to different political parties, making it inappropriate for the church to endorse any particular political group.
RCCG also responded to claims that Adeboye once called off a planned protest. The church clarified that he merely conveyed a directive issued by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria regarding changes to a nationwide three-day prayer programme.
According to the church, the fellowship instructed participating churches to hold the programme’s grand finale at centralised locations and organise rallies around those venues.

The church further dismissed suggestions that Adeboye has remained silent on national challenges.
It maintained that the cleric has repeatedly spoken on issues affecting Nigeria, including insecurity, corruption, governance, elections, economic difficulties, and the need for ethical leadership.
However, RCCG explained that Adeboye typically expresses his views through moral guidance, prayer, and counsel rather than engaging in partisan political confrontations.
Calling for greater professionalism in the media, the church urged journalists, bloggers, and content creators to verify information before publication.
It stressed that responsible journalism requires proper fact-checking and encouraged the public to confirm statements attributed to Adeboye or RCCG through the church’s official channels.
The church concluded by stating that the public deserves accurate information rather than speculation, adding that both RCCG and its General Overseer should be represented fairly and truthfully.
The statement comes amid ongoing national conversations about the influence of religious leaders in political and social affairs. \
As one of Nigeria’s largest Pentecostal denominations, RCCG and Adeboye frequently attract public attention whenever issues of governance, elections, and national development are discussed.
While Adeboye has often commented on matters affecting the country, RCCG reiterated that neither the church nor its leader is affiliated with any political party.
