‘No time for GenZ troubles’, Bashir El-Rufai confirms divorce
Warms up for marriage number 2 this year

Bashir El-Rufai has revealed that his marriage to his first wife, Halima Nwakaego Kazaure, has ended, while also confirming that he is engaged and plans to marry another woman later this year.
Bashir, one of the sons of Nasir El-Rufai, married Halima, the daughter of former senator Ibrahim Kazaure, in November 2020.
The disclosure came during the Eid celebrations after Bashir El-Rufai publicly expressed admiration for another woman on X.
His posts drew questions from social media users, many of whom were unaware that his marriage had ended.
Responding to the reactions, Bashir clarified that the woman in question is his fiancée and confirmed that he and Halima are divorced.
Addressing the reason behind the separation, he wrote: “I divorced my first wife. I have no time for Gen Z wahala. The difference is clear. I had no clue Nupe women treat their husbands like emperors. Loving it.”
His comments sparked further debate online, with some users criticizing his remarks while others congratulated him on his engagement.
Signs of trouble in the marriage had surfaced earlier when Halima appeared to hint at marital difficulties during discussions surrounding the breakup of the marriage between Frank Edoho and Sandra Edoho.
At the time, Halima shared a photo of herself listening to music by Chike and wrote, “Chike dey for you,” a statement that attracted attention amid speculation about challenges in her own marriage.
Neither Bashir nor Halima has publicly disclosed further details regarding the circumstances surrounding their divorce.
