Details surrounding the death have not yet been officially confirmed, and investigations are expected to determine the cause.
News of his passing has prompted tributes from clubs and former teammates across Europe, where the young forward built his early professional career.
Udoh joined Southampton in February 2025 on a long-term contract but left the English club by mutual agreement just seven months later in September 2025 in search of more regular playing opportunities.
He subsequently signed for Czech side Dynamo České Budějovice, continuing his development in European football.
His rise began in Belgium with Royal Antwerp F.C., where he arrived from Abuja-based academy Hypebuzz at the age of 18.
At Antwerp, Udoh made a strong impression with the club’s reserve side, scoring 12 goals in 21 appearances.
His performances earned him promotion to the first team, where he went on to make 28 official appearances and register two assists.
Club statements have highlighted his potential and early promise.
Southampton described the news as devastating, expressing condolences to his family and loved ones, while Royal Antwerp also paid tribute, recalling his contributions at both youth and senior level and describing him as a talented young player who made a meaningful impact during his time at the club.
Former teammates and colleagues have also begun sharing personal tributes. Among them was Belgian midfielder Pierre Dwomoh, who reflected on their recent contact and noted that Udoh had been actively pursuing a new club and training opportunities shortly before his death.
Udoh’s career trajectory had marked him as one of Nigeria’s emerging young forwards, having moved from local football in Abuja to professional environments in Belgium, England, and the Czech Republic within a short span.
