Nursing student’s alleged killer identified as vulcaniser she rejected

A man identified as Onyema Okonkwo has been apprehended in connection with the killing of Chinwendu Wendy Achumba, a nursing student who was found dead in her residence in Imo State.
Achumba was a student of the College of Nursing Sciences, Umuadara Umulogho.
Her lifeless body was discovered on Thursday, May 21, at her off-campus apartment located in Umulogho, Obowo Local Government Area.
Reports stated that the assailants attacked the young woman in her room and inflicted severe injuries on her neck.
One of the suspects reportedly confessed during interrogation that he and another accomplice had allegedly forced their way into the apartment to rape her.
The victim allegedly recognised one of them, a vulcaniser who had repeatedly asked her out, and she turned him down.
Sources further claimed that the victim struggled with the attackers and managed to scratch one of them during the incident.
It was alleged that the suspect realised she could identify him, prompting the fatal attack before her phone was taken away.
Videos making rounds on social media captured the moment the suspects were arrested by security operatives and local residents.
Another clip also showed one of the suspects allegedly making a confession while in custody.
