A ten-year-old American girl has been arraigned in court for r@pe and attempted murd£r of a five-year-old child.
The accused ten-year-old girl allegedly attacked the five-year-old in Cleveland, Ohio, United States of America.
The mother of the victim, Antavia Kennibrew, recounted that she found her child severely injured and disfigured after she managed to leave a family member’s home in September.
The mother took to Facebook to write her horrifying discovery, disclosing that she found her daughter unresponsive, bruised, bloody, and with her hair pulled from her scalp.
Kennibrew said her daughter had ‘signs of strangulation,’ appeared to have been beaten and raped and had a ‘big lump on her head.’
The woman said her daughter was almost unrecognisable. My daughter did not look like herself.
The police were called to the scene and, after an investigation, charged the 10-year-old girl and a nine-year-old boy with attempted murd£r, rape, assault, kidnapping, and strangulation.
The girl, whose name was not disclosed because of her age, was formally arraigned in juvenile court on Wednesday.
She wore a face mask and a pink coat. She was accompanied by an unidentified woman, who wore a hood over her head.
The woman’s movement was aided by a cane, according to WOIO.
Kennibrew urged the judge to resist the temptation to be lenient with the suspects on account of their age, according to Cleveland.com.
She said that the type of behaviour the suspects exhibited did not deserve grace. The aggrieved mother said the suspects knew what they were doing and even played afterwards without caring about her baby.
A judge ordered the main culprit to serve home detention with an ankle monitor. She observed that the girl’s parents were not at the hearing.
She ordered a competency evaluation for them, while adjourning the case till January for further hearing..
The nine-year-old boy, who was expected to be arraigned with the main suspect, did not show up in court. His lawyer claimed the boy’s mother’s car had broken down.
The boy will now appear next week. The judge warned that if he fails to show up again, she will issue an arrest warrant.
Narrating what she learned, Kennibrew said the suspects took her daughter by her hand and walked her to a field that was far away from the residence.
Once they got to the field, the suspects allegedly beat the victim until she was unconscious, according to Kennibrew.
She said the suspects ripped out her daughter’s hair, shoved sticks down her throat and stripped her naked before strangling her with her own shirt.’
Kennibrew said the experience her daughter had had had given her ‘behavioural problems’.
