Bishop Okonkwo’s driver nabbed for allegedly killing his boss, stealing his car in Asaba

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a domestic worker linked to the alleged killing of Bishop Clarence Chinedu Okonkwo of the End-Reconciliation Ministry at his residence in Ibusa, near Asaba, Delta State.

According to reports, the cleric was allegedly attacked in his home by his driver, identified as Uchenna Nicholas Obiagwu, on May 12. 2026.

The suspect reportedly struck Bishop Clarence Chinedu Okonkwo on the head with a pestle before escaping with the bishop’s Toyota Land Cruiser SUV, mobile phones, and other valuables.

Sources said the suspect later contacted a cousin in Asaba to help him find a buyer for the Bishop’s car, which he had stolen.

Acting on intelligence, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu tracked him to Onitsha, where he was arrested alongside another suspect while allegedly negotiating the sale of the SUV for N10 million.

Police authorities confirmed that the two suspects are being held in custody, while the recovered vehicle and other items have been secured as evidence.

Speaking on the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the stolen Prado SUV had been recovered and that the suspects were undergoing further interrogation.

He added that investigations were still ongoing to identify other possible accomplices and establish the full circumstances surrounding the bishop’s death.
