A 27-year-old Kenyan man, Branson Oduor, has been found dead in the United States, nearly two weeks after he was reported missing, bringing a heartbreaking end to what was meant to be a new chapter in his life.

Oduor’s body was discovered in the waters of Baltimore Inner Harbour, according to authorities in Baltimore, where he had recently relocated in search of better opportunities.

Police reports indicate that he was last seen in the early hours of April 4 along Thames Street in the Fells Point district, a popular nightlife area in the city.

He had reportedly gone out with friends to celebrate March Madness, a widely followed Basketball event in the United States of America, before his sudden disappearance.

Surveillance footage later captured Oduor outside The Horse You Came In On Saloon on the night he went missing.

Witness accounts suggest he had been escorted out of the establishment. He declined help from a passerby who offered to assist him in getting a ride.

Days later, authorities responded to reports of a body floating near East Pratt Street, where Oduor was found and subsequently identified.

His remains were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office, with officials yet to determine the exact cause of death as of the time of filing this report.

In the days following his disappearance, family members and friends had mounted an intensive search effort. His mother, Millicent Oduor, alongside his girlfriend, Emily Costa, worked with local law enforcement and volunteers, hoping for a safe return.

Concern was initially raised when he failed to return home, prompting a welfare check that escalated into a missing person investigation.

Adding to the mystery, his electric bicycle was later discovered abandoned on South President Street, several days after he was last seen.

Friends described Oduor as someone full of hope, who had recently secured a new job and was in the process of building a life in the US.

What was meant to mark the beginning of a promising future has now ended in sorrow, leaving his family across Kenya and the United States grappling with the sudden and painful loss.
