‘Help, I’m stranded, as the man who invited me from Ibadan ghosted me, saying I look like grandma’, Lady cries out

A young Nigerian woman has stirred widespread reactions on social media after claiming she was abandoned in Lagos by a man she travelled to meet from Ibadan, Oyo State.

The incident, which surfaced online on Monday, has drawn attention due to the circumstances surrounding her trip.

According to the woman’s account, she had travelled with the expectation of meeting the man, believed to be someone she had been communicating with prior to the visit. 

However, upon arrival, she alleged that the man spied her from hiding and told her she did not meet his physical expectations.

“I came all the way from Ibadan to Lagos to see him, but when I got there, he said I should go back because I look like a grandma. Now he has blocked me everywhere and I don’t even have money to go back home. Please, I need help,” she said in a video that has since circulated widely.

The development has triggered mixed reactions across social media platforms. While some users expressed sympathy and called for assistance to help her return home, others criticised her decision to embark on the trip without sufficient planning or financial backup.

Observers have also raised concerns about the risks associated with online relationships, particularly when individuals travel long distances to meet people they may not know well.

The incident has further reignited conversations around personal safety, financial preparedness, and the importance of verifying identities before making travel decisions based on online interactions.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation on whether the woman has received assistance or safely returned to Ibadan.
