The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued an apology over the delay in releasing results for the latest batch of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), assuring candidates that the scores will be available later on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
The board had earlier stated that results for candidates who sat for the examination on Friday, April 17, 2026, would be released the next day. However, the delay sparked frustration among many candidates who had been expecting prompt access to their scores.
According to JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin, the setback was caused by the temporary absence of the Registrar, who was engaged in an official assignment.
He explained that the issue has since been resolved and confirmed that the results would be released before the end of the day.
“We sincerely apologise for the delay… We assure you that the results will be released later today, surely before nightfall,” the statement said.
JAMB also expressed regret to candidates who stayed up waiting for the release, appreciating their patience and understanding. The delayed batch follows earlier results released for candidates who wrote the exam on Thursday, April 16, with over 600,000 results already published.
Candidates can check their results by sending “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number used during registration.
Meanwhile, JAMB Registrar Ishaq Oloyede said the ongoing examination process has recorded minimal disruptions nationwide.
During a monitoring visit to centres in Ibadan, he noted that only a small number of the nearly 1,000 centres experienced minor technical or power-related issues.
He added that over 1.7 million candidates had completed the examination within three days, describing the exercise as largely smooth and commending stakeholders for their cooperation.
