A heartfelt warning from a close friend of late photographer and biker Orowole Kolapoz, known on Facebook as Kola Onifoto, has resurfaced online following his tragic death in a lone motorcycle accident in Lagos.
Kola Onifoto died after a crash that occurred during what he described as his first solo motorcycle trip outside Lagos.
The 32-year-old travel enthusiast and brand influencer had set out for Akure, Ondo State, on March 1, 2026.
Shortly before embarking on the journey, he had taken to Facebook to celebrate seasoned bikers who have toured Nigeria and beyond, expressing admiration for their daring exploits.
He posted a video of himself performing a daredevil stunt on the expressway, which prompted many of his friends to warn him.
He captioned it:
In the video, he showed himself passing between two moving trailers after bypassing another biker who patiently trailed the two trailers waiting for a safe opportunity to overtake them.
Reacting to the video, Kola’s friend, identified as Atuwaogu Collins Daniel, chastised him playfully and cautioned him against risky riding, telling him he needed him alive.
“I have warned you oo. No dey give me HBP oo! No dey make me fear. Kola Onifoto je ki ori e pe oo! (Be sensible) You are important to me and others here. Please drive gently ooo. Safe travels, Paddy mi. Gunners forever ✌️,” the friend wrote.
The warning has since drawn emotional reactions, with many social media users describing it as painfully prophetic.
According to accounts shared by friends, the journey proved challenging due to ongoing road construction and heavy traffic along the Shagamu/Ijebu-Ode expressway.
Kolapoz reportedly stopped at that stretch to record what would become his final video post, where he admitted the ride was rough and mentioned that his motorcycle had fallen at one point.
It appears the accident happened on his return leg. He is believed to have run into a stationary truck on the expressway.
He was initially rushed to an emergency unit operated by the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ojota after the crash and was later transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of March 2.
Kolapoz’s death has triggered an outpouring of tributes from friends, colleagues and followers, many of whom described him as passionate, vibrant and full of life.
