Popular social media activist, Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan, has published a 2,000-page bank statement of his NGO.
The statement shows a current balance of ₦240 million, with only ₦39,000 debited as a transfer levy.
In a video shared on his X handle, VeryDarkMan dismissed allegations of financial impropriety on the funds contributed into his NGO’s account by sundry Nigerians, including celebrities.
He causes the entire crisis for himself by announcing that ₦180 million was stolen from the NGO’s account after the organization’s website was hacked.
After days of maintaining this story, he came online on Tuesday December 31, 2024 to say it was all a prank.
He accused Nigerians of being st*pid for believing everything they see on social media. He claimed he came up with the prank.
Many Nigerians expressed disappointment with him over the incident with some alleging that he might have perpetrated some fraud or was planning a fraud and floated the falsehood to test the waters.
However, to demonstrate that he is above board, he visited the bank and obtained a detailed bank statement, confirming the funds remained intact.
He also clarified that the only deduction was the ₦39,000 transfer levy imposed by the federal government.
Netizens have since been reacting to the video.
