A woman identified on Facebook as Shamica Mariee has gone viral after sharing a series of posts expressing dissatisfaction with the appearance of her newborn daughter.

In the posts, the new mother described her baby as “the ugliest baby I’ve ever seen” and suggested that the child may have been switched at the hospital.

She continued to share messages conveying distress and disbelief over how her daughter looks.

Her comments quickly attracted widespread attention, with many social media users criticising her remarks as harsh and inappropriate.

As the discussion gained momentum, some users unearthed an older post she allegedly made in 2024, in which she mocked another person’s newborn by calling the child ugly.

The resurfaced post intensified the backlash, with commenters pointing to what they described as irony in the situation.

Following the criticism, Shamica issued an apology to individuals she had previously offended with similar comments.

She acknowledged that her past remarks about other people’s children were disrespectful and expressed regret over her words.

In her apology, she reflected on her experience and suggested that the situation had taught her a lesson about judging others. She also indicated that she is coming to terms with motherhood and the responsibilities that come with it.

The incident has sparked broader conversations online about kindness, empathy, and the impact of words—particularly when directed at children.

Many users have urged compassion for both the baby and the new mother, while emphasising the importance of responsible social media use.
