A man, David (Davis) Chepkwony, who allegedly murdered his lover at a guest house at Kapkatet Centre in Bomet County, Kenya, has been unmasked through the mobile money account he used to pay for the hotel room.
Awoman was found brutally murdered inside a guesthouse, triggering a massive manhunt for the man believed to have checked in with her just hours earlier.
The gruesome discovery was made on Wednesday evening after a lodging attendant grew suspicious when the room remained unusually quiet.
According to preliminary reports, the woman had arrived at the guesthouse with a man who quietly left the premises around 5:00 p.m. — barely an hour before her lifeless body was discovered at about 6:00 p.m.
Authorities say the suspect paid for the room using his M-Pesa mobile money account, a move that may now be his undoing.
The mobile money transaction reportedly bears the name David (Davis) Chepkwony, which investigators believe could lead directly to his arrest.
Security agencies have since launched a full-scale search for the suspect, urging members of the public to provide any information that could help track him down.
Residents of the area have expressed outrage and fear, with many calling for tighter security measures in guesthouses and lodging facilities across the county.
Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing as forensic teams work to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
More details are expected to emerge as the manhunt intensifies.
