Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries, also known as Grace Nation Liberation City, has stirred fresh reactions online after publicly sharing a personal account of his failed first marriage.
In a video currently circulating on social media, the cleric narrated how he once caught his ex-wife with another man, an experience he described as emotionally devastating and life-altering.
The clip, shared by Instagram blogger Temilola Sobola, has since generated widespread discussion across digital platforms.
Addressing his congregation during a church service, Pastor Okafor explained that the incident occurred when he was just 22 or 23 years old.
According to him, he had been travelling at the time when he suddenly felt compelled to return home earlier than planned.
“We were travelling when something happened, and I asked them to turn back and go to the house,” he recounted. “When we got home, we were not expected to come back that early.”
He said that upon arriving home and opening the door, he encountered a scene that shattered him emotionally.
Pastor Okafor revealed that his immediate younger brother—whom he described as his only biological sibling—was with him at the time and witnessed the incident. During the service, he reportedly invited the brother to the altar to affirm the account.
“What we saw broke me from that moment,” the pastor said, adding that it was his wife at the time with another man in their home.
He noted that the discovery left a deep emotional scar and took him a long time to recover from.
Reflecting on the experience, Pastor Okafor suggested that his former wife was drawn to his spiritual calling without what he described as a strong Christian foundation.
He maintained that the betrayal had a profound impact on him at a very young age.
The revelation comes amid heightened public scrutiny surrounding the cleric following recent controversies involving Nollywood actress Doris Ogala and other allegations that have kept him in the public eye.
It would be recalled that his ex-wife, Agnes Bessem Okafor, recently claimed that she dumped the cleric because of abuse and his philandering ways.
She accused him of carrying out affairs with the wives of his members and some choristers, among whom was a lady named Ebere.
Agnes claimed one of Okafor’s side chickens openly challenged her and asked her to leave the cleric for her.
The ex-wife said Okafor was a disgrace to the body of Christ and was not fit to even climb the altar of God.
