
One-time governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja, has been formally installed as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Oba Ladoja was officially crowned at the Ose Meji Temple in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area of the state.
The former governor had earlier received the traditional Akoko leaf at the Labosinde Compound, Oja’ba, Ibadan.
His staff of office is expected to be formally presented to him by the current Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, at the historic Mapo Hall.
Governor Makinde, who is on annual leave, cut short his vacation on Thursday to attend Oba Ladoja’s coronation.
Ladoja had become Olubadan-designate after the death of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
Oba Olakulehin joined his ancestors on Monday, July 7, 2025.
The coronation of Oba Ladoja as Olubadan drew dignitaries from all walks of life to Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Friday.
Among the dignitaries were the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III; a former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola; a former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; a former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; and a former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke.
Oba Ladoja’s political allies, such as former Oyo State governor candidate, Teslim Folarin and Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun (Ibadan South).
Other dignitaries included Senator Yunus Akintunde (Oyo Central), Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, representing Ogbomoso North in the House of Representatives and Senator Abdulfatai Buhari (Oyo North), among other federal and state lawmakers.
