
The Olubadan-in-Council has formally forwarded the name of former Oyo State Governor, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, to the state governor, Seyi Makinde, as the next Olubadan of Ibadanland.
At a meeting of the council held at the Oke-Aremo palace of the Olubadan, Balogun Olubadan, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, moved the motion for the nomination of Ladoja.
His motion was seconded by the Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole.
Briefing the press later, Oba Ajibola said the members of the Olubadan-in-Council backed the nomination of the former governor of Oyo State.
The monarch said the next stage was to forward the name to the state governor for official ratification. This has now been done.
After that, comes the choosing of a date for the coronation ceremony and presentation of the Staff and Certificate of Office to the new monarch.
Ladoja’s journey to the throne of Olubadan commenced after the completion of the 21-day mourning period for the late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
Oba Olakulehin joined his forefathers on July 7, 2025, after staying on the throne for one year.
He took the throne from Oba Dr. Mohood Lekan Balogun, who joined his forefathers on the 14th of March, 2024.
