Four commuters travelling in a tricycle have been crushed to death by a hit-and-run truck driver in Ogun State, South West Nigeria.
The incident happened around Oke Iganmu, along Papa-Ilaro road, on Monday, July 7, 2025.
The truck with registration number DED 425 WB was driven by a man who reportedly absconded from the scene once he saw the damage he had caused.
The spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Sector Command, Florence Okpe, attributed the accident to excessive speeding on the part of the truck driver.
Okpe disclosed that the lifeless bodies of the tricycle occupants had been deposited at the morgue of the State Hospital, Ilaro.
She said a total of four passengers (two male adults and two female adults) were in the yellow tricycle hit by the truck.
Okpe said the Ogun State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Akinwumi Fasakin, had sent his condolences to the families of the deceased.
The sector commander also urged road users to be careful when driving on the road.
It would be recalled that another hit-and-run accident recently happened in Ogun State, claiming the life of a professor of Biochemical Toxicology, Oladipo Ademuyiwa.
