Lagos shuts down residence for discharging raw sewage into public drainage

The Lagos State Government has sealed off a residential property in Okota for illegally discharging untreated sewage from its septic tank into the public drainage system.

The action was carried out on Saturday, June 14, 2025, by officials from the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO), under the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources. The affected building is located at No. 59, Ajoke Okusanya Street, off Ago Palace Way.

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, condemned the act, labelling it as environmental pollution and a serious threat to public health.

Wahab emphasised that the government remains committed to cracking down on such environmental violations as part of its broader effort to promote a clean, safe, and sustainable living environment across Lagos State.
