A witch doctor, locally called Ezenwayi, has found herself in a difficult position after a client she took to the river for a spiritual bath got carried away and is believed to have drowned.
The incident happened happened at a river along Carpenter/Timber Shed at Oba Street in Ogui Township.
The Ezenwayi, clothed in white clothes can be seen in the shallow part of the river muttering incantations that were said to be addressed to the marine spirit who was believed to have snatched the client.
A by-stander who filmed the incident asked the villagers what the matter was and why there was a huge crowd by the river bank.
A young man explained that the Ezenwayi brought the client to the river for a ritual, but in the process, the client disappeared into the deep part of the river and the native doctor could not swim.
The by-stander asked the villagers if there was no good swimmer in the entire village who could dive in to rescue the man.
The young villager and a woman beside him both chorused that there was no one that would venture into the deep part of the river.
It was learnt that the Ezenwayi was later picked up for interrogation by the police.
