Nigerians have unearthed photos of Pope Leo XIV, formerly Robert Francis Prevost, taken during a past visit to the country.
Prevost, who ascended to the papacy on May 8, had travelled to Nigeria years ago while serving as the superior of the Order of Saint Augustine.
During his visit, he spent time with his fellow Augustinian brothers.
As news of his election spreads, Nigerians are sharing old photos of his time in the country, celebrating his new role as Pope.
