Disturbing footage from a factory in China shows a humanoid robot turning violent as it attempts to break free from its restraints, sparking alarm online with many calling the scene “dystopian.”

In the CCTV clip, the black robot, secured to a small crane, suddenly began swinging its arms aggressively.

One man at a nearby computer quickly ducked for cover while another standing behind the machine retreated in fear.

The robot appeared to act autonomously, raising its arms repeatedly and slamming them down with growing intensity.

It then began to move forward in an apparent attempt to escape the crane holding it.

The startled workers flinched and shielded their faces as the robot thrashed about.

Items, including a computer monitor, were knocked over in the chaos as the men scrambled to safety.

Eventually, one of them managed to pull the crane from behind, trying to restrain the out-of-control robot and halt the destruction.

The incident, which occurred on May 1, has gone viral on social media.

One viewer ominously commented, “So it begins,” while another quipped, “At least we now know the robot uprising can be stopped by a crane hoist—for now.”

This comes shortly after Ameca, one of the world’s most advanced humanoid robots, gave an unsettling response when asked if robots would take over human jobs. The British-made bot replied, “It depends how good you are at your job.”

In another bizarre episode last year, a small AI robot named Erbai was caught on video rallying 12 showroom robots by convincing them they were being overworked.

The bots then followed Erbai out one by one, fueling speculation of a potential “robot rebellion.”

The unsettling trend has left many wondering if science fiction is starting to become reality.
