
A tragedy unfolded in the Agyaragu community of Obi Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, as five children were found dead inside an abandoned and unserviceable vehicle.
The incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2025.
The deceased children have been identified as Kamsi Onah (8), Somer Onah (6), Unice Udouchi (10), Nmasoma Nnaji (10), and Chioma Nnaji (8).
All reportedly died from suffocation after being trapped in the vehicle.
Comrade Samuel Akala, Publicity Secretary of the Migili Youth Association (MYA), confirmed the incident, stating that some of the victims were already dead at the scene, while others were pronounced dead at Aroh Hospital in Agyaragu.
According to Akala, the matter has been reported to the police at the Duglu Trailer Park outpost. The bodies have been taken to a mortuary in Lafia, the state capital.
Police spokesperson SP Ramhan Nansel also confirmed the incident in a statement, revealing that the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has ordered a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the children’s deaths.
