Operatives of the Amotekun Corps and officers from the Ogun State Police Command conducted a joint operation on Thursday to clear criminal hideouts beneath the Sagamu Interchange Bridge, following public outcry over frequent hoodlum attacks in the area.

This action came in response to a viral social media post highlighting a series of violent incidents, including a tragic attack on a pastor returning from a vigil on March 22.

The victim was reportedly ambushed and attacked under the bridge. He sustained severe injuries and later died in the hospital.

The post, which gained traction on Wednesday, warned of growing insecurity at the interchange and cited multiple deaths linked to similar attacks.

Reacting swiftly, the Ogun State Police deployed personnel to the location.

According to spokesperson Omolola Odutola, a two-hour security assessment uncovered a criminal den in a nearby bush, resulting in the arrest of three suspects.

She added that illegal trading activities were shut down, and security personnel, including the Quick Response Squad and Mobile Police, were stationed at strategic points.

Governor Dapo Abiodun’s Special Adviser on Media, Kayode Akinmade, confirmed Amotekun’s involvement in the operation.

He assured the public of ongoing surveillance and promised that all arrested individuals would be prosecuted if found guilty.

He emphasized the government’s commitment to sustaining the clampdown to ensure public safety.
