SA-based Nigerian man allegedly declared insane by family after he asked for his properties

A Nigerian man, Bayo Salami, has alleged that his family falsely declared him mentally unstable after he returned from South Africa to reclaim his properties.
Salami, who spent 23 years living in Cape Town, recounted how his family lured him to visit an ‘Alfa,’ a spiritual leader, under the guise of receiving prayers for blessings.
However, upon arrival, he was forcefully locked in a room alongside other individuals who had reportedly been detained for months.
In a video shared on Instagram by @trendmyne, Salami detailed his ordeal, explaining that upon his return, he requested access to the properties he had entrusted his family to develop.
Instead of handing them over, they insisted he visit the Alfa for prayers.
Trusting their intentions, he agreed, only to find himself confined in a poor living condition with no explanation other than his family’s claim that he needed to be ‘cleansed’ due to his smoking habit.
“I have been here for 17 days now. They claim I was put here because I smoke cigarettes, but neither the Qur’an nor the Bible condemns smoking,” he said.
Salami, who described himself as a top show promoter in South Africa, expressed his frustration and sense of betrayal, stating that he had no history of mental illness and had only returned home to resolve family matters.
