A Nigerian doctor has shared his harrowing experience of relocating to Canada with his wife and two daughters, only to face the disintegration of his marriage within months.

The Yoruba-born physician recounted his ordeal during a conversation with relationship adviser Adeolatalks, highlighting how his wife, originally from Edo, allegedly leveraged the Canadian legal system against him.

Approximately four months after their move, the doctor’s wife accused him of domestic abuse, leading to significant legal repercussions that adversely affected his life in Canada.

He acknowledged that while he may have exhibited controlling behavior due to their age difference, he firmly denied any physical violence, alleging that the accusation was false and deliberately targeted at emasculating him in Canada.

The doctor further alleged that his wife had been financially irresponsible prior to their relocation, mismanaging approximately ₦10 million intended for their permanent residency proof of funds.

He claimed she used these funds for personal expenses over eight months, leaving nothing to show for it.

This financial strain was compounded when she allegedly threatened to withhold participation in the immigration process unless he provided additional financial support.

The situation escalated when his wife obtained a restraining order against him, preventing any contact with her or their children.

As a result, he remains unaware of their whereabouts and has been unable to communicate with them.

Despite his efforts to reconcile and seek assistance from his in-laws, he has faced continuous rejection, leaving him deeply concerned about the well-being of his two young daughters.

His predicament has generated a lot of reactions online with some criticising him for taking his controlling behaviour to an advanced country knowing that the legal system in Canada is sympathetic to women.

Others blame the woman for exploiting the foreign country’s legal system against her husband.
