
Nollywood actress, Adejumoke Aderounmu, has passed away at the age of 40.
Adejumoke who was popular for her role in the series “Jenifer Diary,” reportedly died on Saturday, April 6.
The cause of her death has not yet been made public.
Born on March 26, 1984, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Adejumoke grew up in a close-knit family of five.
She attended St. Bernadette’s Private Schools and Abeokuta Girls’ Grammar School before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife.
Her passion for the arts blossomed during her university years after she took an elective theatre course that inspired her to pursue acting professionally.
Aderounmu kicked off her professional acting journey in 2008 when renowned filmmaker Tunde Kelani cast her as Princess Mobandele in the acclaimed movie Arugba.
However, her major breakthrough came in 2016 when she joined the cast of Funke Akindele’s hit comedy series, Jenifa’s Diary.
Her brilliant portrayal of the feisty character “Esther” quickly made her a household name and a fan favourite across Nigeria. Beyond her acting prowess, she also built a profile in media as an on-air personality, working with Goldmyne Entertainment and Concert Radio, and producing her own celebrity interview show, The Lounge with Jumoke.
Throughout her rich career, Adejumoke showcased her creative versatility in over ten major English and Yoruba film productions, including Dazzling Mirage, Industreet, Alakada 2, and The Family. Following the sudden announcement of her passing by her brother, Adeola Aderounmu, the Nigerian entertainment landscape has been flooded with tributes.
