The Lagos state police command has arrested a young man identified as Ifeanyi Njoku for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Precious Okeke, 24, in an estate at Badore, in the Ajah area of Lagos State.

The live-in lovers stayed on Oke Street and it was alleged that Njoku killed his girlfriend for ritual purposes.

It was also alleged that a native doctor who was assisting the suspect, instructed him to have sex with Okeke’s corpse.

The suspect carried out the bizarre act for six days but was busted after the stench emanating from his apartment prompted his neighbours to inform the management of the estate.

An eyewitness told Punch: “The boy killed his girlfriend about six days ago, and he confessed that he wanted to use the girl for money rituals. He said he was told that he should have sex with his girlfriend’s corpse for seven days, but he was caught on the sixth day. Today (Monday) is supposed to make it the seventh day.

“The smell of the corpse had been disturbing neighbours in the compound and other residents. So, they called the estate chairman to help in confirming what was going on in the apartment and while searching the apartment, they found the girl’s body.

“The boy was arrested and taken to the Lamgbasa Police Station and during interrogation, he confessed that he killed his girlfriend six days ago.

“We learnt that the boy offered N6m to kill the case; we also learnt that he brought the girlfriend from the village and they just moved into the estate.”

The state police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident, adding that the deceased and the suspect were lovers.

Hundeyin said: “Two suspects, Ifeanyi Njoku and Mbam Atunmufor, 36, have been arrested. They have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, for further investigation. Njoku was the one that rented the apartment.”

The post Young man kills girlfriend in Lagos, sleeps with her corpse for six days for money first appeared on MicroSecondNews.

Commuters who live around the Ajah axis in Lagos have taken to Twitter to cry out about the unusual traffic this morning.

The traffic began building up as early as 5 am and those who left home by 5 am claim they were still in the Ajah traffic at 7 am and were nowhere close to Lekki.

Videos shared online show the extent of the traffic. Some commuters resorted to getting down from cars to trek.

The conversation has caused Ajah to trend on Twitter

Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce), has issued a three-day removal notice to all owners of makeshift structures, shanties, kiosks and vehicles at Maroko and Lekki Coastal Road, Lekki, Lagos.

The Chairman of the Taskforce, CSP Shola Jejeloye, who led his team to the points of the issuance of the removal notices, stated that the order became necessary for the road construction along the coastal road which serves as an alternative route for the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

The road, which leads to Lekki Free Zone, is plagued by trading activities and is obstructed by illegal structures, shanties, abandoned vehicles and containers.

Jejeloye said the stretch of road had been taken over by mechanics, block makers, bamboo and wood sellers, shanties, and other illegal occupiers, which are going to hamper road construction work in the area.

He stated that on the expiration of the Removal Notice on Thursday, officials of the agency would remove all structures, shanties, abandoned vehicles, and materials in the area.

He noted that the removal of shanties and criminal hideout in the Marwa Waterside area would help reduce traffic robberies and criminal activities on Lekki/Ajah Corridor, particularly in the Jakande Roundabout area.

The Chairman while addressing the occupants of the area in clusters before pasting the notices implored them to heed the state government’s Removal Order as anyone found on the road at the expiration of the notice would be made to face justice.

It would be recalled that the Lagos State government in December 2019 removed all the illegal structures on the Lekki Coastal Road to pave way for its construction.

The post Lagos gives three-day quit notice to owners of illegal structures first appeared on MicroSecondNews.
