Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has urged Ekaette Akpabio, wife of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, to refrain from intervening in the sexual harassment allegations leveled against her husband, suggesting that he should address the claims personally.

The controversy began when Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan publicly accused Senate President Akpabio of making unwelcome advances toward her, both in his office and at his residence in Akwa Ibom.

These allegations have sparked significant attention and debate within political circles and the general public.

In defense of her husband, Ekaette Akpabio dismissed the accusations as unfounded, asserting that the Senate President is a disciplined individual.

She described the claims as “lies” and emphasized her husband’s integrity.

Subsequently, she initiated legal actions against Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, filing fundamental rights and defamation lawsuits.

In a letter dated March 1, 2025, addressed to Mrs. Akpabio through her legal representative, Victor Giwa, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan advised her to abstain from involving herself in the matter.

The letter emphasized that the allegations are personal to the Senate President and that he possesses the capacity to defend himself.

It further stated that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has concrete evidence to substantiate her claims and suggested that Mrs. Akpabio allow her husband to address the allegations to maintain her own well-being and that of her family.
