
Armed bandits suspected to be kidnappers attacked a church in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, shot a pastor and abducted six worshippers.
Daily Trust reported that the gunmen stormed Elyon Paradise Ministry during a vigil on Friday, February 21, 2025.
The outlaws stormed the church near Delta State Polytechnic, around 10 p.m. and left Apostle Divine Aigbedosa Omodia hospitalised with gunshot wounds.
Divine’s wife, Pastor Faith Omodia, said the men shot directly into the church auditorium.
“I was lying down with my baby in the church hall when I heard gunshots. Suddenly, bullets started flying inside the auditorium,” she recalled.
Pastor Omodia disclosed that her husband was shot in the lap and lost two fingers in the attack.
The gunmen reportedly herded them together outside the church before abducting six people, including two security guards.
Those abducted was named as Helen Onwuamaeze, Ariyo Emmanuel, Chike Okolo, and Blessing Waye. The names of the guards were not included.
