Schoolgirl, 11, k!lls self after classmates threaten to report her family to ICE in US

An 11-year-old schoolgirl, Jocelynn Rojo Carranza, from Texas, United States of America, has died by suicide after enduring relentless bullying, with classmates threatening to report her family to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Carranza, a sixth-grader, was allegedly taunted about her family’s immigration status and told she would be left alone if they were deported.
Although there was no evidence that her family was in the U.S. illegally, the bullying escalated to the point where she regularly met with a school counsellor.
On February 3, Jocelynn attempted to take her own life at home.
She was rushed to an intensive care unit in Dallas, where she fought for several days before passing away on February 8.
Her mother, Marbella Carranza, was devastated to learn of the bullying only after her daughter’s passing.
She is now working with investigators and school officials to understand why she was never informed.
The tragedy comes as immigration enforcement efforts increase, with the White House recently sharing footage of migrants being shackled and deported.
