A Nigerian woman, Funmilayo Matti, has accused Ijede General Hospital in Lagos of medical negligence leading to her brother’s untimely death.
Matti claims that her brother received an incorrect blood transfusion and an overdose of medication, which she believes contributed to his demise.
Matti expressed her grief and frustration on Facebook, stating, “And u guys thought u could jes kill my only brother and go scot-free. I swear down u all will mourn over your children.”
She further alleged that the hospital employs unqualified medical staff driven by financial motives, saying, “Imagine a general hospital dat has doctors nd nurses dat are not qualified. Buh jes because of d money u wanna collect.”
Matti also detailed the alleged medical errors: “Firstly u gave my brother an overdose injection. As if dat was not enough, you gave him a wrong blood. You gave him a blood dat does not really match his blood group. Den suddenly he changed and died.”
This incident has sparked discussions about medical practices and patient safety in Nigerian healthcare facilities.
She did not indicate if she has formally filed a complaint with the police, nor did she state how she knew and overdose was administered or that there was a blood mismatch.
Matti also did not state if she made the hospital aware of her misgivings apart from the Facebook post.
The hospital has not publicly responded to these allegations.
