A 21-year-old unnamed Nigerian man has been arrested for attacking a fellow gym patron with a training hammer in Poland.
According to local reports, the incident occurred at a gym in Katowice, the capital city of Silesian Voivodeship on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
The details as to the motive or circumstances leading to the assault are not yet known but the Silesian police were called after the violent confrontation broke out.
The aggressive individual was restrained and arrested. He was said o be visibly agitated.
A video of him being restrained by the police is now trending in Poland. In the video he could be heard shouting at the police, telling them to allow him to sit down as some officers held on to him.
The injured person was not visible in the video. Reports indicated that he given medical attention on site and taken to the hospital. The extent of his injuries is not known.
He was believed to have been attacked with a training hammer.
Police investigators are now gathering statements and reviewing surveillance footage to establish the circumstances leading to the attack.
The Nigerian may face serious legal consequences, depending on the findings of the investigation.
