The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the tragic death of makeup artist Emrich Effanga, who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, identified as Ndifreke Isaiah.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, confirmed the incident, stating that the case had been reported and that Commissioner of Police Baba Mohammed Azare had ordered a thorough investigation.
John emphasized that certain details could not be disclosed at this time to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, Emrich Effanga’s brother, renowned guitarist Ifiok Effanga, professionally known as Fiokee, had confirmed that the late make-up artist was strangled by her boyfriend, who was a prominent member of her church.
He expressed deep grief on Instagram, admitting he had no idea about the abuse his sister suffered, as she never spoke about it.
Fiokee urged individuals in toxic relationships to seek help, acknowledging the fear that keeps many silent but warning that staying quiet could be life-threatening.
The deceased’s cousin, Purim Mercy, also paid tribute to Emrich on Facebook, disclosing that the alleged perpetrator served was an usher in their church.
She expressed shock and sadness over the incident, highlighting the unexpected nature of the tragedy.
As the investigation progresses, the police have assured the public that further developments would be communicated promptly.
They also appeal to anyone with relevant information to come forward to aid in the investigation.
