Rapper Kanye West’s account on the social media platform X has been deactivated after he posted a series of anti-Semitic, racist, and misogynistic comments.
Elon Musk, the owner of X, confirmed the deactivation, stating that users “won’t be seeing” West’s account anymore.
In his recent posts, West made multiple references to Nazis and Adolf Hitler, and directed derogatory remarks towards Jewish individuals.
On a single day, he posted over 20 tweets, including statements such as, “I’m never apologizing for my Jewish comments.
I can say whatever the f*** I wanna say forever.” He also wrote, “Jewish people don’t run me no more,” and, “Some of my best friends are Jewish and I don’t trust any of them,” followed by a laughing emoji.
West also criticized singer Taylor Swift during the Super Bowl, accusing her of perpetuating negative stereotypes about Black men.
He tweeted, “IF ITS ABOUT THE CULTURE … WHY ARE WE LETTING TAYLOR SWIFT BE SEEN ON TV SINGING A SONG ABOUT TAKING A BLACK MAN DOWN AND ACCUSING OF THINGS THAT CAN TAKE A BLACK MAN DOWN FOR LIFE.”
This comment appeared to reference Swift’s recent performance at the Grammys, where she was seen dancing to Kendrick Lamar’s track “Not Like Us.”
In response to West’s posts, Elon Musk stated, “Given what he has posted, his account is now classified as NSFW. You should not be seeing that anymore.”
Following this, West’s account was deactivated.
Before his account was deactivated, West posted a final message: “I’m logging out of Twitter. I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board.
It was like an Ayahuasca trip. Love all of you who gave me the energy and attention. To we connect again. Good afternoon and goodnight.”
West’s recent actions have drawn widespread condemnation.
Actor David Schwimmer called on Elon Musk to ban West from X, describing his posts as “hate-filled, ignorant bile.”
This incident is part of a pattern of behaviour from West, who has previously faced criticism for making anti-Semitic remarks and praising Hitler.
