A Nigerian doctor, Tobechukwu Ezeobi, has described her late friend, Dr. Ikenna Erinne, who allegedly committed suicide in the U.S. as a humble and easy-going person.

Ezeobi disclosed this in a heartfelt tribute she paid to Dr Erinne on her Facebook post on Monday night.

Dr. Ezeobi described the late doctor as a charming, humble, intelligent, affectionate and easy going doctor.

“Rest on dear brother. Rest on ‘my senior colleague’ (lol inside joke). Rest on… to the one with the warmest smile, highly infectious laughter and greatest sense of humor. To the most CHARMING, HUMBLE, AFFECTIONATE, INTELLIGENT AND EASY GOING doctor (cardiologist) I ever knew, rest easy… till we meet to part no more,” she wrote.

It would be recalled that Dr. Erinne, a US-based cardiologist reportedly took his life on Sunday, January 26, 2025, following a prolonged child custody battle with his ex-wife, Suzzette Chibuogu.

The first set of reports online about the incident, indicated that a US court ruled in favour of Chibuogu and ordered Dr. Erinne to pay $15,000 monthly as child support.

His father-in-law, Francis Van Lare initially later clarified that the child support was $1,900.

He said one of the children was physically challenged and therefore needed special care which was costly.

He said the late doctor sometimes paid the sums partially and posted a bank statement showing how the payments were made by the late doctor.

The father-in-law had also scoffed at earlier mourners who described his late son-in-law as easy-going. He said this was not true, claiming that he held his daughter and their children hostage for three hours until the nanny who escaped from the house called the police.

He said Dr. Erinne shot himself to avoid going to jail.
