A 14-year-old boy, Okogbe Emma Chris, is currently being held at Ajuwon police station, Lagos State after he allegedly pushed his adoptive mother, 71, down from the second floor of their home, k!lling her instantly.
The boy who was interviewed by newsmen, including KingOlaEnt Media World, said he was adopted by the late woman, a retired teacher, when he was only one year old and she sent him to a boarding school in Delta State.
Chris who is very fluent in English said he was recently told by an older friend in the neighbourhood that he was not a biological son of his mother and he went home to confront her.
He recalled that the mother followed him to the friend, named Gbenga to inquire if it was true he told the boy what he claimed.
Chris said Gbenga, son of a former student of the late teacher, repeated the statement and when the old woman asked him how he knew, Gbenga said he saw the old woman when she brought home Chris from an orphanage many years ago.
Chris said he became bitter towards his mother as a result of the revelation, especially when she owned up after the confrontation with Gbenga that she was not his biological mother.
Despite the revelation, the retired teacher was still making arrangement to put him in another school nearby, because Delta was too far and there was no one to stay with her at home here in Lagos.
According to his own narration, Chris said he was mixing with bad friends and he would steal his mother’s money before absconding for days.
According to him, he later plotted with Gbenga to hurt the old woman by pushing her down from upstairs.
He said his intention was to break her leg, but she ended up landing on her head and dying instantly.
He then used his mother’s phone to call a neighbour who then took him to the police station where he has since been detained.
