Heartbreaking moment mother wails over lifeless body of daughter allegedly beaten to death by her father for scoring D+ in KCSE results
A 41-year-old man, Maurice Toto, is currently being held by the police in Kenya over the de@th of his daughter, Sarah Toto Maurice, 22, in Bungoma part of the country.
Maurice was said to have had an altercation with his daughter after her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results came out and she scored only a D+.
Maurice reportedly resorted to beating the young lady in their home and she slumped and passed away.
Area chief Maurice Wetala told NTV it is not certain that the altercation was solely caused by the girl’s poor performance, especially as the daughter had absconded from home, causing the family some anxiety looking for her.
He said this might also have contributed to his anger while beating her.
“She did her exam in 2024 and the results were released. I am not saying that the results were the reason behind their altercation. It might have been just a difference between a child and (her father),” Wetala said.
He advised parents to rethink corporal punishment, emphasising that using canes to discipline children may not always be the most effective approach.
Maurice is being held at Chesikaki Police Station pending investigations into his daughter’s death.
The daughter’s body was taken to Sande mortuary in Kimilili, pending burial arrangements by family members, according to Wetala.
