The founder of Agidigbo FM in Ibadan, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat has blamed the stampede that k!lled 35 children in Ibadan on Wednesday on greed and selfishness on the part of some parents.

Hamzat who was speaking on the phone with a friend over the incident alleged that some parents did not care if their children got hurt so long as they got some material benefits.

He said that some parents were taking their children over the fence and throwing them to people already inside.

He claimed that one of such kids fell down and hit his head on the ground.

Hamzat said the level of desperation that some people displayed was incredible.

Contrary to some allegations that the organisers did not make arrangements for security for the event, he said security officials engaged were billed to come in at 8 am for the event slated for 10 am.

Hamzat said they were, however, surprised to find that the entire place was filled up with people as early as 5 am.

He said the stampede started about 7 am, as some parents showed desperation to gain access to the venue of the event and consequently broke the gate.
