Edo State APC Chairman, Jareth Tenebe, has defended Governor Monday Okphebolo after a viral video showed the governor struggling to pronounce “N605 billion” during the presentation of the 2025 state budget.
The governor stuttered while unveiling the Appropriation Bill and, at one point, humorously remarked, “It’s confusing me,” before continuing his presentation.
Amid online ridicule, Tenebe dismissed the criticism, describing the incident as a human error.
In his response, he stated, “Social media has been agog with our governor’s budget presentation about his mistake on N605 billion and the rest of it all.
It’s a normal thing. Humans make such mistakes. A lot of people make such mistakes. I don’t know figures. That is how to know original and innocent people.”
The APC chairman’s comments have sparked mixed reactions, with some defending the governor’s sincerity and others questioning the appropriateness of the defence in a formal setting.
