An Arsenal fan celebrating the team’s 2-0 victory over Manchester United in a Premier League match has been fatally shot in Uganda.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, December 4, and left another fan injured.
The deceased, 30-year-old John Ssenyonga, was killed when a security guard opened fire on a jubilant crowd at a restaurant.
Reports suggest that the building’s manager had grown irritated by the fans’ noisy celebrations and asked the guard to intervene.
After the fans ignored warnings to quiet down, the power to the building was cut off, which only escalated the situation.
The guard then allegedly fired several shots, killing Ssenyonga on the spot.
A second victim, identified as Lawrence Mugejera, sustained injuries and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Both the guard and the restaurant manager fled the scene and are currently being sought by authorities.
Regional police spokesman Twaha Kasirye confirmed the recovery of a firearm at the scene and called for public assistance in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
Kasirye also urged fans to celebrate responsibly to prevent such incidents.
The police have condemned the violence and are actively investigating the case to ensure accountability.
