Dele Olawale, the lawyer to flamboyant United Kingdom-based cleric, Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, has said that the controversial Pastor cannot be deported from the UK.
Olawale issued a statement in the wake of a well-circulated report that Pastor Tobi faced possible deportation following the failure of his appeal challenging the refusal to grant him leave to remain in the UK.
A press release dated December 4, 2024, by Olawale, dismissed the claims as “fake and false,” emphasizing that Adegboyega has resided in the UK for over 20 years without any criminal record or convictions.
“Deportation is for criminals. He is not,” Olawale wrote, accusing British tabloids that circulated the story of ‘’ignorance and sensationalism.”
The lawyer clarified that while SPAC Nation, the organization linked to Adegboyega, had faced scrutiny from courts and the Charity Commission, the pastor was never found guilty of any wrongdoing.
Olawale noted that the pastor has overcome various challenges but continues to thrive. He criticized those spreading the deportation rumours, calling such actions “sensationalism” and “an act of idiocy.”
The solicitor also questioned the broader societal tendency to bring down individuals who stand out. “I wondered why there is joy in seeing people go down, including so-called pastors. Society has a big problem,” he said.
Olawale concluded by reiterating his stance that the deportation claims are baseless and false. He stated that no further comments would be made on the matter, describing the reports as not worth the attention they have received.
